Steps to File a Claim
Follow these four steps when making a motor insurance claim with Kowri and Star Assurance.

Report the Accident
Prioritize safety and report the accident to the police immediately. Ask how to obtain the official police report.

Contact Kowri
Get in touch with us as soon as possible. We will guide you and connect you with Star Assurance for the correct claim form.

Gather Your Documents
Submit the police report, repair estimates, medical records where applicable, driver’s licences, and other relevant records.

Forward Third-Party Communication
Send Kowri any claims, legal documents, or letters received from another party. We will handle the communication on your behalf.
Speak to us before settling a claim
Do not settle or negotiate directly with a third party before informing Kowri or Star Assurance.

Who can make a claim?
A Kowri Protect motor insurance claim may be filed by:
- The insured: The person named on the policy may claim for damage to their own vehicle.
- A third party: A person whose property was damaged by the insured vehicle.
- An injured person: A person injured in an accident involving the insured vehicle.
- A legal administrator: The legal representative of a deceased person.
- A parent or guardian: Someone claiming on behalf of a minor involved in the accident.
What are the claim time limits?
3 yearsFor injury or death claims
6 yearsFor vehicle or property damage claims
The period starts from the date of the accident. File promptly whenever possible.
When might a claim be rejected?
- The vehicle was used without your consent or for an unauthorized purpose.
- The person driving did not have a valid licence.
- The claim was submitted outside the three- or six-year limit.
- A change of vehicle ownership was not reported.
- The driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
